Installing Bleeper on WordPress

This article covers installation and first use of Bleeper v1.02 on a self-hosted WordPress site using our WordPress plugin.

1. Installation

Bleeper’s WordPress plugin is installed like any other plugin from the WordPress Repository. In your WordPress site, go to WordPress Dashboard → Plugins → Add New.  Type bleeper in the search box at the top of the screen. Click the Install Now button for Bleeper Live Chat by Bleeper.

After the plugin is installed the Install Now button will become a colored Activate button. Click the Activate button.

2. Welcome to Bleeper

After you’ve activated the plugin you’ll see the following panel. To get started immediately, click the Activate Live Chat Now! button.

3. Find Your Bleeper API Key

After you click the Activate Live Chat Now! Button, the Bleeper dashboard will open inside your WordPress dashboard. Click the API link on the left-hand nav panel within the Bleeper dashboard.

Clicking the API link takes you to the API dashboard. To find your API key, click the Credentials link on the API nav panel.

On the next page, you’ll see your API key and your Company ID. Copy the API key to your clipboard and then click the Bleeper Settings link on the WordPress dashboard nav panel.

On the Main Settings tab of the Bleeper Settings page, paste your API key into the Bleeper API Key field and then click the Save Settings button.

Now that you’ve saved your API key, Bleeper’s Messenger should  be active. Visit the frontend of your WordPress site and you’ll see the chat button in the lower-right corner of your site.

Click the chat button and you’ll see the default start chat window. You’re ready to chat with your site visitors.
