Installing Bleeper on JavaScript Sites

This article covers installation and first use of the free version of Bleeper v1.02 on a JavaScript site.



Installation

To get the code for installing Bleeper on your JavaScript site, log in to your account at Bleeper.io. Click on the Install the Bleeper Messenger on your site button in the Live Chat Dashboard section of the main Bleeper.io account page as shown in the screenshot below.

On the Install your Bleeper Messenger page, click the Install Bleeper button below JavaScript as shown below.

After clicking the Install Bleeper button, click the Copy button (an icon that looks like 2 sheets of paper) next to the JavaScript code below JavaScript Site Instructions.

Now you need to paste the JavaScript code you just copied into each web page you want to display the Bleeper Messenger icon and host chats. Paste the code just before the closing </body> tag as shown below.

Once you’ve added the JavaScript code to load Bleeper Messenger, return to Bleeper.io and click either of the I have added the code button shown below.

Link Your Domain to API Key

Now you need to link your domain to your Bleeper API key. Click the Settings link on the left-hand navigation bar on the Bleeper site. Then click Domains on the Settings sub-menu. You’ll see the screen shown below. Click the Add domain button.

On the Add a Domain screen, type your domain (including http:// or https://) into the Domain text box. Enter a title to identify the domain. If you’re using Bleeper Pro you can also upload a logo by clicking the Choose file button. This sets a global logo in the Bleeper.io settings area. Once you’ve entered the data, click the Add Domain button.

To activate Bleeper on your new domain, click the Live Visitors link in the left-hand menu. Then click the link to your offline site (the button to the left of the site name will be red as shown below) to tell Bleeper that you’re accepting chats from this site.

The red button will turn green to indicate that Bleeper is accepting chats from the new site.

At this point, Bleeper Messenger should be running on your website. If you open a page from your website to which you’ve added the Messenger JavaScript code, you’ll see the chat window icon displayed in the lower-right corner.

If you click the chat icon, the default chat window will pop up. Bleeper is now working on your website.
