This article covers the installation of Bleeper v1 on anything other than a self-hosted WordPress site. This includes static websites, Drupal sites, sites hosted at WordPress.com, etc…
The first step in using Bleeper on a standard website is to log in to your account on Bleeper.io. From the Dashboard, click Settings on the left navigation bar.
On the Settings sub-menu, click Get your code.
On the Install your Bleeper Messenger page, click the Install Bleeper button beneath Standard Site.
After you click the button, the Standard Site Instructions will appear on your screen. Click the Copy icon (2 sheets of paper) to the right of the JavaScript code snippet to copy the code to your clipboard.
You need to insert the copied code into the HTML file for each page you want the Bleeper Messenger app to appear on just before the closing </body> tag.
Save the file and upload it using FTP or whatever method you normally use to upload changes to your website. Once the file with the Bleeper code has been uploaded, return to the Bleeper.io site in your browser and click the I have added the code button.
Now you need to link your domain to your Bleeper API key. Click the Settings link on the left-hand navigation bar on the Bleeper site. Then click Domains on the Settings sub-menu. You’ll see the screen shown below. Click the Add domain button.
On the Add a Domain screen, type your domain (including http:// or https://) into the Domain text box. Enter a title to identify the domain. If you’re using Bleeper Pro you can also upload a logo by clicking the Choose file button. This sets a global logo in the Bleeper.io settings area. Once you’ve entered the data, click the Add Domain button.
At this point, Bleeper Messenger should be running on your website. If you open a page from your website to which you’ve added the Messenger JavaScript code, you’ll see the chat window icon displayed in the lower-right corner.
If you click the chat icon, the default chat window will pop up. Bleeper is now working on your website.
